About the Course

Summer of Selflove is an art journaling course where we will explore the idea of self-love and put it into practice. In this class, we will respond to a series of introspective prompts that get deep down into the core of who we are. We will begin by constructing a lovely little book that will be our personal journals for an entire two months. I will show you how to gather your supplies from things you already own, and compile a “Self-love Kit” from your stash filled with materials you love. We will then set our own definitions of self-love and self-care before exploring who we are by looking within ourselves, peeling back layers upon layers to expose our own personal truths and beauty. I will ask you to face all of your negative attributes, thoughts, regrets, etc. and learn to find the positive within them. We will document all of our responses to the prompts in our handmade journals and I will share many of my tips and tricks to creating beautiful scrappy art journals that are all about you.

The class is broken down into 11 lessons to be completed within 10 weeks. Each lesson will contain 1-6 prompts, with some of the prompts broken down into 1-2 sub prompts, asking you follow up questions and giving you plenty to think about and respond to for the week.

I will be sharing my own pages and tips and tricks on how to create some really beautiful spreads. I will be sharing some of my favorite art journaling techniques using a variety of mediums, showing you step by step how to create some wonderful effects on the page.

So whether you are looking dive deep within yourself and begin to practice self-love or begin a creative self-care routine, this class will help you to learn to love yourself all while creating the most beautiful art journals that are all about you.

Imagine learning to love yourself by creating a beautiful art journal that is all about you…

FAQ

I’VE NEVER ART JOURNALED BEFORE, IS THIS COURSE FOR ME?

This course is for all types of journalers–beginners, intermediates, and advanced. The beauty of art journaling is that it can be whatever you want it to be. There are no right or wrong ways to journal. That said, this course is not an introduction to art journaling.

WHAT SUPPLIES DO I NEED FOR THE COURSE?

There will be an entire lesson on gathering supplies. But the basic supplies needed for this course are a journal and your choice of mediums. In the course, I show you how to create your own journal, but you by all means don’t have to make that journal if you don’t want to.

If you do choose to create that journal, you’ll need two pieces of chipboard, binding rings/ribbon, decorative papers, glue, scissors, and your choice of mediums such as paints, inks, etc.

I STILL HAVE A QUESTION.

Feel free to contact me and we can chat.

Just wanted to share how my table at Highland Park Just wanted to share how my table at Highland Park’s Arts in the Park Fair looked on my feed. I was very happy and please with this year’s set up!

It was such a gray and rainy day, but it was still a good one! My snippet journals won 3rd place in the juried show for the textiles category! That was such an unexpected surprise! x
Books 7/10: Change of Plans by Sarah Dessen Rating Books 7/10: Change of Plans by Sarah Dessen
Rating: ✩✩✩

I've been waiting a while for a new Sarah Dessen novel and I must admit, this is not my favorite. IDK, it felt a little confusing and all over the place in the beginning. She's usually really good at setting up the scene with all the relevant backstory towards the beginning of the story and I felt like that was missing from this one. We were literally just plopped right it. It was still an enjoyable read, but it wasn't her best. Also, I think this may be the first one that takes place in a completely new place outside of the Lakeview/Colby universe. Yes, the MC is from Lakeview, but the story takes place elsewhere, which I found interesting. x

I'm headed to Portugal in a few weeks for about 10 I'm headed to Portugal in a few weeks for about 10 days. Normally, I would make my own travel journal to take with me. But I've been so busy with work and making things for a craft fair I'm doing in September that I just don't have the time.

I purchased this beautiful embroidered passport-sized journal from @moonsideparlour a while ago and IDK, it just speaks Portugal to me! The embroidery is just so lush! And I love the vintage vibe. So I've decided to use it as my journal for this trip.

It's smaller than I'm normally used to, but its fits so nicely in my passport TN and for the type of trip I'm going on, I think it would be perfect. I anticipate that I won't have very much time to journal while on this trip, so having something small to stick things into will be great.

I am planning to prep the pages before I go and add a few things in to decorate the pages more so they are more me, as well as put together a small kit to bring along with me. But I've very excited to use someone else's journal for a change! x
