I meant to post these individually but I read through them too fast to post about them. Honestly, I’ve been lacking on socials in general, but here’s my braindump for CoS, PoA, and GoF. SPOILERS:

CoS:
✩ Lucius Malfoy having Riddle’s Diary makes sense now that I know Bellatrix had the Goblet. But I don’t think Malfoy was meant to take action and slip it into Ginny’s book, but rather protect it. I can’t remember, but I believe Voldemort was upset with him for that.

✩ I love how we get little hints of Harry being the last Horcrux in this book, esp. when Dumbledore confirms that a little of Voldemort transferred into Harry when the death curse backfired. Really reinforces Snape’s comment about Dumbledore setting Harry up for slaughter at the end. Again, Dumbledore be scheming!

✩ Harry asking Dobby to promise to never try and save his life and then in book 7, Dobby breaks that promise by saving Harry’s life...and then we all know what happens is a gut punch to the stomach. Ugh.

PoA:
✩ I got so upset when Harry was upset at what Sirius allegedly did after hearing Fudge at the Three Broomsticks. He believed all the lies, all while Pettigrew sat with them this whole time as Ron’s rat. Ugh, so frustrating!

✩ It’s wild that Harry, Ron, and Hermione are always the people in the know. They are literally everywhere all the time. And no one ever believes them because they are kids.

✩ Ah if only Harry were able to live with Sirius! Dumbledore probably wouldn’t have allowed it anyway, seeing as there was special protection on the Dursleys’ house from waaay back, but still.

GoF:
✩ I totally forgot all about the Riddle backstory and how young Voldemort killed his Muggle father...also pretty ironic that he’s a half-blood.

✩ The SPEW stuff was nonsense. I get it, we needed a reason to go to the kitchens cause of Dobby and Winky and all, but it was just filler, and Hermione pretty much drops it in book 5.

✩ Did Harry ever get back the Marauder’s Map after this book?

Today’s my birthday, and I spent it with friends

Today’s my birthday, and I spent it with friends and flowers.

It was very gray and dreary outside this morning, and we were all running late, and I never did get to start on Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix on my ride to Brooklyn.

But I did get to chat with my new neighbor on the A as he was off to work, and we eventually all made it to the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, and you know what?

We had an amazing time.

I had an amazing time.

And the sun eventually came out.

We got food at Dekalb Market Hall, went searching for trims in the Garment District, and then came home.

It was a good day. xx

My vision board in my OLW journal. I created it digitally in January, before @lucrecer's lesson came out, and I'm in awe of the shared wavelength that we all walk on because I NEVER create my vision boards digitally. And I can't even say why I did so this year; it just felt right.

I also created the Bingo card, which I'm SO looking forward to marking off! I put so many fun things in there. I'm excited for it. I've already accomplished a handful of things on there already! xx

So I'm not entirely sure if this book counts, but I started rereading the Harry Potter series over. I've been meaning to for a very long time now seeing as how I haven't read them in over a decade. I was sick at the beginning of the month and basically lived on my couch for two days. In those two days, I managed to rewatch the entire movie series, which I also hadn't done in over a decade. As I was watching the films though, I kept anticipating things that actually happened in books and not the movies, which honestly convinced me that I needed to reread these books again. So I got my battered copy of Sorcerer's Stone out, which I remember buying back in 1999 at my school's Scholastic book fair, and started reading.

I forgot how much of a comfort read this book is for me. Growing up in Manhattan, this was the book I read throughout the night of 9/11 when all you heard were the sounds of fighter jets circling the city, the awful smell of something burning seeping in through your closed windows. It's insane the trauma bond I have with this book. Gosh, it's given me so much comfort this month rereading it. IDK what it is, it just makes me feel at ease.

This is not going to be a review, cause I think we all know enough about this book. But I just wanted to share some insights I had upon rereading it after so long. SPOILERS:

✩ Molly Weasley is the true MVP of this series. Like, Mother was mothering since the beginning! Helping Harry onto Platform 9 3/4, telling her children not to bother him when they recognized him on the train, making him a Weasley sweater for Xmas...MVP!

✩ McGonagall breaking the rules for her house to gain a Seeker cause, goddammit, she wanted to beat Slytherin so bad! Like ma'am was desperate!

✩ I never consciously realized before that Dumbledore was plotting SINCE THE BEGINNING.

✩ The book's ending with Neville winning 10 points for Gryffindor to win the house cup foreshadows him in book 7 killing Nagini! I never realized that before! Neville coming through with the clutch at the last second!
