I spent quite a bit of time at @brooklynbotanic this summer. Days wandering around, nights enjoying a magnificent south bath. The last couple of weekends I spent learning how to create my own herbarium—or pressing flowers and plants for preservation. We got to pick our own flowers from the children's garden and it was such a cool experience! “I have done nothing all summer but wait for myself to be myself again.” —Georgia O’KeeffeI’ve never resonated so much with a statement ever.I feel like this year has been this weird waiting period for me—waiting to close on my apartment, waiting to move in, waiting to renovate, waiting to be settled in, waiting for my person, waiting waiting waiting. But also truly waiting for me to feel myself again.What happened to me these last couple of years really changed me. I don’t feel like the same person I was in 2021. I can’t even fathom her. And I miss her—all the good parts of her though because she was dealing with a lot internally that she wasn’t aware of that I don’t have to deal with again to the same extent that she had to deal with them. I’ve grown so much from that time but what I really miss most is that wide-eyed wanderer. That creative artist. That girl who did things because she wanted to and didn’t really let things—people—stop her. Along the way, I feel like she got lost. Sometimes, I’m just filled with so much worry, doubt, and grief, I wonder what happened to her. How can I get that bright part of her back?Welcome prayer is from @journalingclasses. I finally got around to taking some photos of my c

I finally got around to taking some photos of my current journal.This is a 6x6 snippet journal I made myself last year for some creative summer journaling. I never ended up using it, so when I got the desire in late July to return to my creative journaling, I chose it as my new journal. It was the easy choice as I already had it made and I had all the extra bits and bobs ready to use to document in it.For the better part of the last two/three years, I’ve just been journaling in a plain B6 notebook. I haven’t really done much creative journaling aside from my Japan travel journal. But I got the itch—you know the feeling—to go back to these sorts of journals. And I’m having so much fun with it! I miss doing art journaling and memory keeping all in one little book. It’s just so messy and fun. And it’s been a great way to get back into my stash of art supplies and paper products.Not gonna lie, it’s been tough. Of course, leave it to me to want to get crafty when I’m currently displaced for a bit as I renovate my apartment.
