Journaling

March in my Unraveling Journal

Hello Lovely.

Here are my March pages in my Unraveling Journal.

March was all about learning about myself. I like doing this every year to take stock of who I am. I usually review my personality types—Myers-Briggs, Enneagram, Love Languages, my birth chart, etc—and journal my thoughts and revelations. I’m always amazed at all the new insights I gather when I do this—I call them epiphames. Because we know all of this about ourselves already, but depending on where we are in our personal journey, studying ourselves over again always brings with it new insights and ah-ha moments we hadn’t recognized before.

I’ve been really interested in Astrology lately, so for this month, I reflected on my birth chart again. I recently learned about two things—The Four Elements and our North and South Nodes—how you can find out your own from reading your birth chart and what they mean.

Everyone is a combination of the Four Elements—Water, Earth, Fire, and Air—with the planets in your chart falling into one of the four depending on the zodiac sign it was in at your birth. From reading my chart, I found out that I have 4 planets in Earth, 3 in Fire, 2 in Air, and 1 in Water. According to Debra Silverman, Water would then be my “missing element” or the element that I lack. (Your missing element fluctuates over time though, but my chart was right on point with me. I have always been very rooted in my Earth qualities—perfectionism, practicality, analytical, etc.—and have always struggled with being more fluid like Water, something I’ve only begun to embrace in recent years.) And therefore, since I lack it, I have to do the work to become more like Water.

I also discovered that my North Node is in Pisces (and therefore my South Node is in Virgo).

Debra Silverman calls your North Node the “shortcut to enlightenment.”

It’s essentially your future or where you should be moving towards, whereas your South Node is where you’re coming from. Your North Node is your future and your South Node is your past. The South Node is also your comfort and is where you default to.

So my North Node is in Pisces, which is a sign represented by Water and my South Node is in Virgo, which is Earth. (Do we not see the synchronicities here!) Because of this, my gift will come through when I get the practice of stillness. When I allow myself to dream. Water people do not push. Water flows. According to Debra, I have permission to feel, to dream, to rest, to be internal.

The alignment of all these things is definitely one great epiphame!

I’ve always struggled with stillness and it’s been such a breath of fresh air to be studying my relation to it in Liz’s course. I’ve also been struggling with letting go and if there’s one thing I know for sure that Water people do, it’s let go. Water people flow. It’s no wonder that Water is my missing element. I have to learn the practice of stillness and the art of letting go.

I have to learn how to flow.

I am listening Universe. Message received.

xx Tiffany

Finally got my hands on a copy of this book! I love the concept of these types of art books and I know that Sabrina’s books pioneered them all. I would love to create something like this. I enjoyed reading this one. To think this book is like 25 years old is insane.

Journals—present and future. I’ve been taking sto Journals—present and future.

I’ve been taking stock of my journaling lately, and it’s looking a lot different from how it used to be three years ago. I’ve been writing a whole lot more and doing less of the artsy-crafty part, which is totally fine. My documenting flows in phases, and this one has been all about the words.

But every so often, I’ve had the nagging pull to be more creative—to go back to my art journaling roots and even my scrapbooking roots. And the feeling would just nag and nag at me, but I haven’t been acting on it at all. I “try” but don’t actually follow through. And with all of the things I want to do swirling around in my head, I become so overwhelmed over all of the different journals I’m keeping (and trying to keep), that I fall stagnant and do not a damn thing.

I think I'm in that phase right now. I've been keeping up with my journals alright, but I have so many ideas for future journals that I want to get to right now, but I haven't even started on any of them. Then when I take stock of it all, I get so overwhelmed! Journaling shouldn't feel overwhelming lol. And I honestly just think it all boils down to the fact that I don't have enough time to do all the things in my day—and I always want to do ALL THE THINGS!

Does anyone else get like this?

Anyway, here are my journals—some are in progress and some I'm just setting up to use for next year! And there are others I still want to make.

And honestly, I kind of can't wait to start the new ones. I'm a mess. 😆

I have a pile of art books that I haven't read yet, and I keep buying more. A lot of the time, I want them just to look through them, not actually read them, but I'm challenging myself to start reading them! They are amazing sources of inspiration, and honestly, it helps me get ideas of my own. I finished @quietnoticing's book the other day. I read it on a long train ride, and what a beautiful book! I absolutely love her art, and her Polaroid photos are simply stunning. I love the way the visuals helped tell her story.
